Hi Vance, you aren’t the only one telling us that you had no issues and a good experience on this ferry crossing (even both)! We also know of people who had similar issues to ourselves. Perhaps Fiona and I just got unlucky and hopefully the service works most the time as it should. I wish that to any overlander anyways 🙂

I’m glad you were able to get on the ferry last minute, even if it was a little less comfortable than you would have wished for. Fiona and I would have killed for a spot like that haha I should say that we also know of people who have had no issues at all with this ferry crossing and like yourselves once they bought a ticket they could board the ferry and go. So luckily it’s not a drama for every overlander 🙂

I tried to buy tickets online – no luck at all. Tried calling. Finally we got to Mazatlán the day before and we’re able to buy one that evening for the next day – but no cabins left which was fine with me but my husband was disappointed. I wouldn’t want to be in that cramped dark room anyways . We were our family of four and a van crossing back into La Paz. I laughed when we got on and saw the locals putting jackets to mark spots on big sofas in lounge area , then I started thinking it wasn’t a bad idea and my daughter and I grabbed a spot . It was very loud until about 1 am , much more comfortable so glad we did it . I have an ear that doesn’t work so I put my good ear down and was able to mostly sleep though it. My biggest disappointment was my phone and camera were dead so I didn’t get to get a pic of the sunrise coming into La Paz . Pretty awesome to leave at sunset from Mazatlán and see the sun rise in La Paz!

We were able to make all reservations and payment a couple of weeks ahead. Hopefully we will get the same luck this coming March
