Hi Arthur, I think you are right but we found that everything when it comes to boats and sailing out in Central America is cash in hand. Even when we sailed from Panama to Colombia. It doesn’t seem properly regulated and I’m sure Martin makes quite a bit of cash that is never taxed. Not much different from AirBnB hosts that don’t declare their income. We shan’t get involved in that but thought it was worth sharing our experience! I will say that we’ve heard from others that had really lovely captains and experiences. So I think we just got unlucky with that one! As a boat owner you are probably as horrified to read about it as we were when this was happening.
